Golden Jubilee

Exhibition Piece: In commemoration of Impington Village Colleges 50th Anniversary, a 56 page brochure was produced by staff members in 1989. There are photographs and facts from the first 50 years, which include information on the Chivers and Impington Hall, through to community activities.

In 1989, Impington Village College celebrated its Golden Jubilee.  Having been open for 50 years, the staff decided to create a brochure with all the facts of the college that they could compile together.  It holds information on the design and inspiration of the Village College system by Henry Morris, Walter Gropius and Maxwell Fry, the history of the land through the Chivers, the community spirit, and school life.

It is a comprehensive, yet concise account of the first 50 years.  Therefore, the book takes a significant place in the exhibition, to mark the Golden Jubilee year of Impington Village College.
