Exhibition Piece: An example of an old attendance register from 1976-77. Each form or class was assigned a register where the teacher would use a ‘/’ to show a student was present, and a ‘O’ if they were not. Notes of absence are also attached.

Attendance registers are as important today, as they were when schools first began.  Punishments were recorded for being absent from classes or leaving the school premises without permission, and severe warnings are still given to pupils now if this occurs.

With the advancement in technology, paper registers have now become defunct.  They have been replaced by online versions which are connected to a main database system.
