IVC Archives

Exhibition Piece: A wealth of documentation is stored on the history of Impington Village College in the archives. On display in this case, is a small example of the types of material that can be found, for example, an inspectors report from 1948, and an education committee agenda from 1939.

By Judith Brown, Librarian; IVC

Over the summer we have started an Improvement Project on the IVC Archives which has seen the transference of a paper index to an electronic database.  We have also taken measures to preserve the older and more valuable items safely, and will be doing additional work on digitisation in the future.  Our collection includes photographs, logbooks, registers and other school artefacts, architectural plans and drawings, minutes of Local Government Authority meetings, historical documents concerning Impington Hall and Chivers family history, books on architecture, Gropius, Bauhaus, Henry Morris and educational history.

We are now listed in ‘The National Archives Archon Directory’ which will soon be replaced by ‘Discovery’, an integrated central online catalogue providing access to archives and collections.
