Coding Club Minecraft Project

The video below shows a 3D mockup of Impington Village College, built using Minecraft by students in the Coding Club.

The coding club at workThe Coding Club meets at lunch times and was assisted by Steve Carson, a software developer at Versio4 Ltd. In order to create this model of the school, students took measurements of the school to help with accuracy and thought was given as to what materials would best represent the various elements of the school. What is even more impressive is that rather than build the model manually in Minecraft, it was built using Python code, using the Minecraft Pi API on a Raspberry Pi computer!

Over 100 hours work went into creating this model, including some work that was done during the summer holiday.

The technically inclined can download the Python code from here in case they wish to run it or make ammendments.
